BIM strategy

Recipe for success

Successful strategy development depends on the knowledge and skills of the people involved working together. This is especially true for complex systems such as BIM (Building Information Modelling), which requires not only technological innovation but also a comprehensive change in the way organisations operate. As BIM is a relatively new approach, for many companies, a lack of appropriate prior knowledge can be a barrier to strategy development and effective implementation.

Analytics

The first step in developing a strategy is to thoroughly explore and analyse the existing situation. This is essential in order to set strategic objectives that are based on the realities of the situation and to choose the tools that will ensure that the expected results are achieved.

Defining the objective

Following the assessment, this step begins by defining the objectives for the various BIM-related activities within the organisation and the desired maturity levels for each design element. The objectives must always be aligned with the medium-term business strategy and profile of the organisation and therefore cannot be universal. One of the most important characteristics of strategic objectives is that they must be measurable. It is therefore necessary to define specific indicators against which the implementation of the strategy can be assessed

Preparing

It is not directly linked to the preparation of the strategy, but it is proposed to carry out a preparatory phase to prepare the client for the joint work.Due to the complexity of the BIM framework, the client needs to be familiar with the requirements specification methodologies laid down in the standards that define the basis for the processes.
